Pokemon Tournament - Spitfire333 - 14-04-2013 While this isn't a game to be played on the forums, I just thought I should put this here for anyone who is interested. As the title says, this is a Pokemon Tournament, and we'll be using a site called Pokemon Showdown for the battles. We'll not be using all of the standard (OU) rules, rather, we'll be using an abbreviated version, and a banlist. The rules are posted below, please reply if you're interested, so I can make the bracket. Thanks~ Da Rules (known as clauses): Sleep Clause-You may only put one of your opponent's Pokemon to sleep at a time. However, you may still put an enemy's Pokemon to sleep if they have put one of their Pokemon to sleep. For example. I can not use Spore (a move that puts the target to sleep), if I have already used Spore on another Pokemon that is still sleeping. However, I can use Spore if one of the opponent's Pokemon has used Rest (a move that puts the user to sleep) Evasion Clause-Abilties that raise evasion (e.g. Snow Cloak) are banned from play. The move Minimize is also banned. This is meant to stop the game from becoming centralised around the basis of luck. Moody Clause-Sorry Cerb, this clause bans the use of the ability Moody, which makes Bidoof and Bibarel extremely powerful. Its very easy to abuse, and makes the basis of the game luck. Fear not, though, because the Doof's other ability, Simple, is still very good. Species Clause- Only one Pokemon of any species on your team. You may not have two or more of anything. OHKO Clause- You may not use moves that OHKO the target (e.g. Sheer Cold) You may OHKO pokemon using a normal move, though. Swift Swim Clause- You may not have two pokemon with the abilities Drizzle and Swift Swim on the same team. However, you can use your Pokemon's Swift Swim to take care of someone an opponent's Drizzle. The Banlist (You may still use a pokemon if one of their forms ins listed here, just not the listed form. All forms of Giratina and Deoxys are banned): Arceus Blaziken Darkrai Deoxys Dialga Excadrill Genesect Giratina Groudon Ho-oh Kyogre White Kyurem Lugia Manaphy Mewtwo Palkia Rayquaza Reshiram Sky Shaymin Incarnate Thundurus Therian Tornadus Zekrom Anyway. Hope to have a nice turnout, post below so I can create the bracket. Re: Pokemon Tournament - Hutchy - 14-04-2013 ... What do you have against Blaziken. Re: Pokemon Tournament - Spitfire333 - 14-04-2013 Blaziken is banned by Smogon.com, the hub for competitive Pokemon. The banlist is their banlist, the rules are some of their rules. I didn't add any banned 'mons or extra rules, in fact I took away some. Anyway, Smogon banned Blaziken because of its ability, Speed Boost. Speed Boost raises the user's speed every turn. That, combined with Blaziken's all around amazingness got it banned. Re: Pokemon Tournament - FireDog - 14-04-2013 Not a big fan of the evasion clause and the swift swim clause. Although this is mostly due to the fact that I am a weather team user. (I have a Rain Dance team, a Sunny Day team, a Hail stall, and I am working on a sandstorm team) Re: Pokemon Tournament - Spitfire333 - 14-04-2013 I like weather teams too, Fire, and I know not having Snow Cloak and Sand Veil is annoying, but in the case of the Swift Swim clause, it drastically helps the metagme. The fact is that, in the case of the SS Clause, it stops Rain from becoming overpowered. Its abusers are more dangerous, and Politoed is simply better than Ninetales and Abomasnow. The Sandstormers are a different story, because, even through Tyranitar and Hippowdon are great, they only have 5 Pokemon that gain speed from Sandstorm, as compared to 35 speed boosters with Swift Swim. Evasion is horribly broken, and we'll not be using, unless of course, you want a Sand Veil Choice Band Garchomp murdering every team it comes across. |
