CHARACTER INFORMATION

Name: Ivar Harkon

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Appearance: He has long Dark brown curly hair, with Hazel eyes, he wears a dark green leather coat/jacket, has bushy eye brows his hair is greasy and he wears grey trousers with a mouldy brown colour boots.

Personality: Ivar is usually happy although he does not care for nature it would take a lot to gain his trust, Ivar is very adventurous and will move from house to house as long as he makes some gold he is a little bit of a theif. He is patient with his houses as well and wont settle down until every spot is finished. He is quite stubborn with other peoples decisions he has a southern accent and is hard to impress.

Backstory: Ivar grew up in a small home, tormented by bullies and afraid of his parents. As a child he was useless to his father because "a boy that young can't work the stalls." His mother would rarely argue being afraid of the consequences, both for her and her son.
Of course, Ivar was not lucky enough to stay a blissfully unaware child forever. Soon he grew and was forced to pick up his fathers trade. You see, blacksmithing is a rather complex profession. To master it you require the skills and abilities only few possess. Ivar's father did not possess these skills. Spending most of his life drunk or asleep, it is hard to imagine a time when his father would have concentrated on learning this difficult line of work.
"Best weaponary in the middle realm" the sign said in bold black ink in front of their stall. But the rich customers would be dissapointed to find only junk sold. Dulled swords and cheap armour that could be pierced more easily than paper.
When he was eight, Ivar was told to deliver a rather heavy sword to a customer. But as he attempted to pick the sword up he slipped and the sword fell to the ground where his father's foot lie. Thankfully, the cheap craftmanship meant the sword did not pierce his foot completely but just left a rather large cut. However, none of this mattered to his father who was furious and threatened to have the boy live on the streets for the rest of his life.
It was at this time that his mother finally spoke up. Calming the father down they agreed that they needed the extra hands for work as it was too expensive to hire an outsider. This was when Ivar knew he was just being used and was nothing more than a free worker to his parents.
While this may have seemed unfair, it was a normal thing for poor families to do. The civil war that had begun in the middle realm was not stopping anytime soon and many in the village left to fight meaning job spaces needed to be filled. Ivar remembered hearing of slavery in parts of the middle realm, he remembered questioning if his life were any different. Of course, at this age Ivar was unsure of why people fought but over heard talk in the town of "brother against brother."
When he was thirteen he was approached by another boy of the same age. A boy who introduced himself as George and who, like himself, was not at school like many his own age. Both George and Ivar shared the fact that their parents did not want them to go to school. Needing the extra help meant that the two children were uneducated and knew nothing of important matters like arts and medicine.
As they spent more time together, Ivar learned that George worked in a stall just across the street which sold weaponary and armour much like his own. Ivar soon realised that George was what his father called "a competitor that's stealing all our money." But Ivar did not think George was a thief and so ignored his fathers words and continued to spend time with George.
When Ivar was fifteen, George told him something he had told no one else. A plan to leave the town behind and begin a new life. Ivar questioned his plan telling him he was too young and he did not have enough money. But George was tired of the run down market he had spent his life growing up in. He wanted to move on and create his own business, one that was honest and sold quality goods.
After his offer was declined by Ivar, George snuck away, leaving the village for many years to come. Ivar did not know how he had done it. Whether it be stealing from his fathers stall or finding another to travel with him. All he knew was that he could not leave in fear of what his father would do if he ever found him.
When he was deemed a man by his father on his seventeenth birthday, he was taken to the nearby forest to hunt. Of course, during the days of the civil war food was scarse and so hunting was a way of obtaining enough for that days dinner.
Ivar, while working with swords most of his life, had never killed anything with one. As they trudged through the forest and the daylight began to dim as the leaves blocked the sun, Ivar became scared. He held the sword ready to attack any creature which may jump out at him. His father told him to watch the area while he searched another. This meant that Ivar was alone, circling the ground flinching at every noise. After a twig snapped in a nearby bush, Ivar broke. His fear took hold of him as he ran to the bush and beat it with the sword until he could no longer breath.
Dropping the sword from his hand he looked into the bush to see what he may have killed. All that remained in the mess of branches and leaves was a crow. Cuts engulfed it's body so that the black feathers became soaked in red. Ivar stepped back and fell to the ground. He had not realised the pain which would come from killing a creature.
Ivar sat in the same spot staring at the bush until his father arrived. Turning around he saw that his father carried two dead rabbits in each hand. This only made the sickness he felt in his stomach worse and the walk back home was shameful.
Two years later, Ivar received his first letter. A letter which told him of a town nearby that would give him work if he so choosed. Who it was sent by was a mystery. Ivar had no way of knowing whether the contents of the letter was true. Villages tended to keep to themselves as it was hard to trust one another with the war still raging on.
The intimidation that he felt towards his father had decreased with his fathers illness. It had started just a year ago and had become so bad that his father lay in bed most of the day. It was hard to imagine his father hurting him in anger when at that point he could not take care of himself.
Believing his life in that town would never improve, Ivar left. Following the directions listed in the letter. It was the first time in his life that he had ever felt free.
Once he arrived in the village a day later he was amazed to find it was real. Wandering through the markets was a completely new experience as the people looked happy to sell and buy.
As he walked around a man stopped him. The man wore clean clothes and a huge welcoming smile on his face. "Ivar" the man exclaimed and held his arms out to hug. The confused look on Ivar's face showed the man that he had not been recognised. "George!" the man said pointing to himself, "the boy who ran away."
George explained that after he left all those years ago he found this place and was welcomed in like one of their own. Soon he earned enough money working jobs for people that he opened his own stall. Ivar was taken to the stall owned by George where he saw swords made of metals he had never even heard of.
George told him of a blacksmithing tutor that helped him to improve his skills and work with advanced metals. He told Ivar that in time he to could be taught these skills. So it was that for the next few years Ivar was no longer a worker but rather a co-owner of a blacksmithing stall. For the first time in his life, Ivar felt happy.
But this happiness could never last. A few years past and when Ivar was twenty-three he received a letter from his mother. The letter told of his fathers death. After years of struggle he had finally stopped breathing. A funeral was to be held in just a week and Ivar had been invited despite their bad relationship in the past. George offered to go with Ivar but he refused. He knew that George did not want to go back as much as he did.
After attending the funeral, Ivar came back to the village expecting to see George and the friendly villagers again. But what he saw was complete chaos. Houses burnt to the ground, bodies littering the streets, George nowhere to be seen. Having no where to go now but back to his old home, Ivar's happiness dissolved. He stayed with his mother who would soon re-marry due to financial problems. Afterall, she could not work the stalls alone any longer.
The civil war which had occured for most of his life finally ended a year later. But rumours surfaced of a treaty between the alliance and the dusk realm which could inevitably lead to a bigger and longer war. Ivar was just glad that for now there would be no more fighting.
Two years of helping his mothers husband at the local inn helped Ivar to hone his trading skills. Each day he would serve the villagers food and drink and occasionally talk. In one of these conversations he was told of a ship which could take him to a new land. The land was described as peaceful and happy. To Ivar it reminded him of the town he had shared with George.
For the rest of the day, Ivar thought about the ship. What did he have to lose? His work was not needed as much now that the civil war had ended.
Deciding to take a leap of faith, Ivar boarded the ship he was told of and was never seen in that old town again.
