Unpausing character:

High clouds, soft waves, and a steady wind. It was the perfect weather to sail. There were no signs of a storm anywhere, and the frigid winter seas had calmed down for the first time in weeks. On any other voyage, the crew and captain of the vessel would've spent the day off duty, playing cards and telling stories to each other, but on this day, this perfect day, everyone hung limply over the side of the ship, nursing their throbbing head and lurching stomachs. Several kegs in the hold were now empty, and only one among the people on the ship seemed perfectly normal.

The large woman was seated at the head of the ship, humming a slow tune. Her short greyish hair resisted the wind, and her sharp blue eyes were dulled by her lazy eyelids. Rummdumn of the clan Ironheart, of the town Fogstone, or Linedia as it was better known, was returning to a town where her stay had been prematurely interrupted by the terrible news of an assassination in her very own town. The chief had been killed, and it had required that every member of the two clans return to pay his or her respects.

Of course, that in itself had not taken long, but the potential treachery involved in this particular death meant that the townsfolk could not rest easy. An extensive investigation was had, which involved plenty of shouting, and the council of elders, which was in all the good it was, just the oldest people in town, tried very hard to decide the steps the town should take next. And then, it all ended as abruptly as it had begun.

It turned out the late chiefain had a sweet tooth for pickled hornets, as was evident by the jar found under his bed. The traditional recipe was to pickle them live, but the chief had gotten impatient, and one of them had managed to survive. The incident was concluded, and great many songs came of the silly chief's demise, as it never is right to send off a dead without laughter in Fogstone.

Rumny would've returned to Nightveil there and then, but complications arose and her trip had to be delayed. It wasn't until the news of dragons reached the town that Rumny was given leave to set off to the Forbidden Lands once more. The sturdy but leisurely miner took a long route to the coast, taking the detour in the hopes of catching a glimpse of an earth dragon, and at the near cost of her life, she did. Eventually, she reached the coast, and now, after two years, she was finally coming back to Nightveil.
