In the middle of the night after weeks of unusual rain, the Alroc dam broke. A huge rumble erupted in the middle of the night as water crashed through the lowest sections of town. Trees were uprooted, houses flooded and destroyed all in a matter of minutes. Alroc was devastated and the waters were rising as Alroc started to return to the lake it had been before settlers had drained it.
The first rumble and the initial wall of water was then echoed by an explosion as mining charges blew apart a home and nearly took out the occupants with it. People scrambled from their homes while the injured were tended and moved from town.
Luckily for the citizens of Alroc the trade ship was still in port and while they very much so wanted to leave after the first rumble, the desperate townsfolk convinced them to stay until everyone had been evacuated. While some were carried and others ran, everyone managed to escape the devastation, and only a few were injured.
The sailors at first were bewildered with what to do with the citizens of what was now Alroc Lake again. But finally the captain begrudged he knew a town he could take them, though it was secluded and according to him and his crew, cursed. With no explanation as to why the town was empty, but desperate for someplace to call home the citizens of Alroc relocated to the town of Nightveil.
