Ideas on possible next character

Yeah, I value and have listened to what you two have said, but I believe if others can re-invent characters then so can i, plus it makes for better character development. But, I may change Liana and Xaeri a little bit and change their professions so that they can be more useful to the group other than fighting.

Out of the three listed here, only one has any sort of skill we need. Mercenaries and scouts don't tend to get a lot of work in our setting. Normally anyway, the event is clearly the exception to this. Out of the three, the second seems to be the most useful RP wise, but as ever, exploring new ideas and characters is always a good thing. My characters are always new, I make it a point not to recycle my characters while at the same time making sure they're as varied and different from one another as possible.

While builders are always a welcomed cast its hard to play one, especially if you're not a big fan of MC building or can't be bothered to stress the fiddly period details we sort of require here.

Sometimes we shy away from jobs thinking no one will come to them just because they're not as obvious. But generally if there is a specialist in a certain field people will find work for them.

On re-inventing: I agree on what's already stated by others and won't repeat, but I have one point though on it. It's only re-inventing so far in my eyes. Do it enough times and it's not going to be re-inventing anymore as it turns re-using old ideas.

As for the chars I agree with Michelle, choosing yourself is key. Though advises don't hurt anyone and I think that the fact I can pull a few already existing or earlier used characters from the top of my head and just put their names up there instead tells me the others are right; we're not in desperate need of either. New ideas are preferred, as always.

It gets difficult when we do have a lot of characters, admittedly, but I'd say that also mean we can't put enough emphasis on creating something new and not so stereotypical. You don't need to be a fighter, scout, healer, farmer or miner to get some RP out of ppl, all you need is a character. The rest is up to you.

I think I'd agree with Zark about not getting too hung up over the skills. A convincing and fleshed out personality is most important, however I think in both of these respects the animal husbandry seems the most promising. That said, I do think if we're really talking about reinventing characters, a good place to start would be giving them a new name. It may seem like a small change but I believe it could go some ways in ensuring that one doesn't subconsciously slip back into old ways.
