Ideas on possible next character
#1
Let me make something clear first, Oofers will know two of these characters.
DO NOT INSTANTLY ASSUME YOU KNOW THEM, THEY HAVE CHANGED!!

But I want to see which character I should start thinking about bringing in next, I know that right now i will not be allowed to bring a new chara in, but it wouldn't hurt to get some ideas flowing.

Well Fae mentioned two people I think, looking to bring in Animal rearing characters (Although Cherry may have been included) We have too many hunters/warriors as it is really.

We don't have many 'active' builders either, but I think maybe trying something new and different could work, like Percival is a bookbinder, you don't need to have a role that's necessary to the group so much as it could be interesting to play. My original idea for Arua was an Oracle/Wise Woman'y character, but that sort of got lost in the wind.

Anyway, thats just my suggestion. I'd also suggest trying new characters rather than bringing in old ideas and designs.

I'm not voting because I believe the character you play is your responsibility. You shouldn't leave it for other people to decide, and I think they shouldn't decide for you. Also, I don't want to pick based on pictures and brief summaries that give more of an archetypal impression if anything. This is my way of saying 'you don't really have to listen to me here'. But, as the person who's probably going to be the one reviewing this hypothetical character (which would eventually put you in a situation where you have to listen to me)...

Personally, I don't find any of the characters particularly striking, for various reasons. The most obvious of these is the fact that combat characters are an abundant type here, and I not-so-secretly dislike that. While it makes sense for people to know how to defend themselves in a setting where shit tries to eat you at night, I dislike it when that's the character's main focus. As Pinkie said in the post that she's posted in the wrong thread, it has to do with ensuring your character has work, but also to ensure they've got something to add to the RP. Preferably, that something should be new. Combat RP is not new. It's certainly not striking either, and for this, it has little appeal to me. Long story short, unless you can bring something new and refreshing to combat-oriented RP or Mesalia is suddenly in a situation where there are no hunter/mercenary/guards/soldiers/archers/whatever, I suggest you don't go there.

That would leave your animal-tending character, who I suppose would be the one I would vote for if I absolutely had to. That being said, I don't find her interesting either, but for slightly different reasons. Predominately, I think it's too typical for a woman who tends animals to be blonde and friendly. I know it's just a brief description, but I would personally call for something that doesn't leave more to be desired. Honestly, I don't see why you can't run with one of the other two, but make them animal-tenders instead of combat types.

So I guess what I'm really saying is 'you should listen to me, but don't feel obligated to do what I say, but do feel obligated to think about it and make your own decision'. I can't stress the point about making your own decision enough.

EDIT: Also, about the whole 'you shouldn't recycle characters' thing, I slightly disagree. My best damn characters tend to be reinventions of old characters. I think it's great that I can develop a character through trial and error over years, but I do assert that 'reinvent' is the key term, here. If I were to show you one of my oldest characters, Ed (not a Mesalia character), and compare him to Snow you'd see the similarities, but it's quite clear that they're very different people. 'Recycling' isn't necessarily bad, but how you do it does matter a great deal.

ANOTHER EDIT: Cerb, your last comment was unnecessary and uncalled for.

I agree that reinventing characters, or developing characters that you'd started but had barely begun to develop is better at times is better than starting a fresh character. But sometimes it can end up with a character stopping early in development, stalling or growing stale if ideas or interaction falls short. Personally I prefer to start new characters , but at the end of the day I usually end up with a character that has a small amount of other characters that I've used and made, as well as obviously having a part of me in them.

As for my last comment, I apologise, out of personal context it would probably seem rather rude.
