Zarkaylia Wrote:The Middle Map Setting
Temporary Map
This map is an epilogue to the Aurian one and a prologue to the next.
- Linear Map
It is meant as a linear map, this means that our characters will not set any permanent home on this map unless you decide to take your character out from the setting. The idea is to travel towards a new home, more details than that I will not type here.
- SURVIVAL
This map is MEANT to be a struggle, for all the characters. You can count on such things as food, shelter and water maybe being scarce at times and not a damn sight of any other people out there. Fair to say, if your character get out of this like it was nothing, you're fucking doing it wrong!
- New Arrivals
The staff will help new players and old alike with this. For the new players it would be after the test, in any applications the only important thing atm is that your char is in the Forbidden Lands and willing to follow the group of travelers, the rest we'll aid you with if you need it.
- Restricted exploring
To avoid this map from growing massive and take all our memory space, the staff will have to be moving the border along with the group and it will be restricted to a few hundred blocks radius depending on the surrounding area. This is a bit unfortunate, but necessary. Don't worry, we'll make it up to you with the next map.
Conrad Wrote:1. Loading unnecessary chunks.[/list:u]
We only have so much memory and storage, and people loading chunks will put strains on that, especially with this linear map. So we want people to stay with the group to keep as few chunks loaded as possible.
2. OOCly exposing future sites.
We've been working hard on making a hell of a lot of sites, full of surpsies and secrets, on the trail for you to dig your RPing teeth into, and people going ahead on their own ruins this by seeing where things are, or by checking out the secrets without the constraints of RP...
ANY KNOWN EXPLORERS WHO SHOW IC KNOWLEDGE OF FUTURE SITES (LOCATING THEM AS WE PASS) WILL BE PUNISHED. By exploring ahead you've now forfeited that RP. Your character has to now be dumb about future sites.
3. We said not to.
When we started this map there was a border set up to prevent people going ahead and exploring far afield. This map is meant to be full of little surprises and you, the players, aren't meant to know what is ahead.
We had to drop that border to allow us to work on the map behind the scenes, and yet multiple warnings were put up by Staff about the dangers of going ahead to you (First time kick, second time temp ban). This was meant to keep you from going ahead, but people have pushed the boundaries.
The border may/may not be reinstated depending on how it affects our work, but HENCEFORTH ANYONE WHO IS SHOWN TO HAVE EXPLORED FURTHER THAN TWO BEACONS AHEAD IC OR OOC (AND WITHOUT DUE REASON IC) WILL BE TEMP-BANNED.
