Roy looks about his age and occupation. He's a fair skinned and slick looking guy that dresses smart. A button down shirt rolled up to his elbows with a vest on top compliments the slacks and dress shoes he wears and walks about in. Like the image above he has a bow tie carefully crafted around his collar. Roy has dark brown hair and hazel colored eyes. His facial structure is rather cut and has definite shape, making him look quite handsome. Roy also has a light and carefully trimmed beard that is notably not a hair out of place. There is not a single hair on his neck or upper lip. He's rather lean and thin to match his height of 5 feet 10 inches. The guy doesn't go fighitng or lumbering so while he has some muscle from generally keeping fit on his own time, Roy is not some body builder.
Personality: Roy is a smart ass. An asshole, even. He’ll make a snarky comment or sexual innuendo any time he can if to do nothing more than embarrass, tease, or poke fun of others. By all means people really shouldn’t like Roy; however, he keeps none of it in sincerity. It can be difficult to gather genuine malice or anger from the guy because of his happy-go-lucky behavior. Sure the pestering and general attitude may get on the nerves of many, but Roy is plenty nice to those he generally likes. Heck, the guy can even be endearing or give surprisingly good advice from time to time. The stance Roy takes on life is one that wants to enjoy and work with the cards he has had given to him. He’s not one to get too serious or hold some personal vendetta. He just wants to have a good time with friends. This much shows in Roy’s extrovert personality. Unless he’s working, Roy gets incredibly bored if there is no one around. A lack of social interaction drives him nuts. Roy just wants to find someone, talk about life, and drink with them. Especially at night, Roy has a way of getting in a sort of pseudo-philosophical state. Nothing mind blowing but he loves to just talk about topics often avoided or just not discussed in the usual. Topics such as the future and perspectives on war. He understands some may not want to talk about these things, but that’s fine. They can just drink and crack jokes instead. Or gossip. That’s fun too. Overall, what’s nice about Roy is his honesty. He will tell you just about most things with little shame.
When it comes down to business, Roy is a tad on the lighter side. He does not like to get his hands dirty. Blood and guts and agony just is not his thing. The killing and stuff is what the others were always there for. Roy, by no means is a coward or soft, he just avoid physical conflict if he can. This all being said, Roy is Provensian. Not just Provensian, but a Martillo at that. He’s tough. And he can be genuinely harsh, mean, and cruel with the upbringing that city give you. Roy is a nice guy most of the time but pissing him off just brings words rather… Foul. And not just insults at you, more so your character. The guy will harass those who hate him and do his best to get in their skin. He will make it personal.
Some of Roy’s hobbies include that of gambling, drinking, smoking, dancing, and other fun Provensian things. He likes to have a good time with people. The man just wants to have a good time. Roy also has a secret love for writing poetry if you can believe that. Although he guards his poems away from others. He only writes at night and never brings his book of poems outside his house. Reasonably he kept it a secret from his Martillo buddies and will continue to do so from people. It is also important to understand that because of his background, Roy has some racist and homophobic tendencies. He tends to take another route to it in a more harassing way rather directly discriminating against others, however.

Backstory:
Roy is a Connolly. He has always been a Connolly. And the Connolly family has always had deep relation in the Martillo family. They've been together since the beginning and not one Connolly has not been a part of supporting Martillo. The Connolly family has had a rather expansive and varried relation with the Martillo family as well. Many are warriors serving as assassins, loan sharks, smugglers, and thugs. But most prefer the simple life. And Martillo allows such without force in other direction. The Connolly family typically has brewers, bakers, craftsmen, and other trade skill jobs that assisst the Martillo family more than any warrior could. They make and gather supplies for the family. Or, they increase morale and spirits with drinks and food. Roy Connolly is no exception to this case. Roy is the second eldest of 5. Him, his 3 brothers, and his one sister. They're a large family, which is rare for city folk, but for them it was no matter. The Connolly family has had some special garentees being with the Martillos for so long. Roy grew
in a rather interesting family life.
Being a Martillo is not easy and nor is living in such a large blood family. First off, he's the one out of his borths who took the family trade. This much alone is pressure on him to do well in brewing. His brothers, who were notably tougher than Roy, took on the more bloody side of Martillo business. Now living as a Martillo in Provensia is great and all. Roy got to enjoy the protection of family and live a higher life than most commoners. The difficulty of his trade added stress though. So while Roy loved brewing, he takes it seriously and professioinally as possible. A rare sight given his usually mischevious behavior as a kid and his more relaxed attitude today. Roy also had to deal with family as a kid. His brothers were your usual tough guys but that never prevented Roy from getting his kicks. They were brothers. Which ment they fought as kids. A lot. In the end they were still family and that brought close bonds to protect each other. And their sister. There's a good chance any suitors of the youngest sister of the Connolly family had to go past a "test", or rather, physical beat down, as means of straining his faith to the girl. Despite this, any who passed the test were treated really well by the brothers afterwords. Finally, there was being a Martillo. Roy wasn't going to pretend that he didn't have some advantages. But it was still cutthroat being in that family. Roy knew that at any second, angry commoners could riot and burn his brewery down. Or he could slip and anger the heads of the Martillos. There were rules to be polite and keep family secrets at that. Things got worse when the Rartho Rebellion sparked and Roy never knew if his home and trade could be litterally ben blown out of the ground over night. Roy was aware that being a Martillo ment having enemies. But he'd full well fight rather conceal in doclie recline from the war that his family made for him.
Roy also traveled often. He never went far from the city; not too far at least. Roy made rather simple trips to get some air, relax, and remove himself from the city environment. He often went alone despite others advising against such. Roy understood their concern for keeping safe from his enemies... but he figured even the most angry rebel would have enough sense to know that killing a brewer is not really going to acomplish much. The most that usually happened during these trips was Roy taking a relaxing time and meeting people. He just talked to others, strangers, introduced himself. They knew he was Provensian by accent and dress, but Roy never told of his relation to the Martillos. And wouldn't you know it, people got along with him. It was an interesting dynamic but Roy would never even think of leaving the Martillo line forever. It was just nice to talk to people outside the city. See what they had to say about the portal and the politics of Provensia. He even met a few lovely ladies out of the city. Women he actually cared more about. But Roy never saw himself getting tied down.
Roy was born three decades ago which in honesty is not a huge margin of time. By now the pruges had ended, the Civil Wars have had a fresh start, and life in Provensia was kicking up quite a bit. Now Roy aged with a normal life for his upbrining. He had an established family in Provensia which helped him quite a bit. The walls of the city kept out any dangers from the outside and the walls of his family kept out dangers from the inside. Roy grew a child knowing both his parents rather well and treated well by them. He grew around life long friends and did what every kid should do. He played and was disiplinced properly as a child. He was irresponisble as a teenager, getting drinks, partying, and having regretable flings with girls. And as a young adult he'd travel here and there. Never going too far from the city to avoid getting his blood split in a battle Roy was unrelated to. His father personally taught Roy his craft and thus they got along quite well, despite Roy's behavior as a teenager. A good amount of his youth was spent being a hotshot with tough friends and brothers to back him up. And they made damn sure nobody messed with what mattered most. The brothers of the Connolly family could mostly care for themselves but Roy, his older brother James and his father protected their mother and sister very well. You take good care of family when you're a Martillo. Roy lived a very extravegant and enjoyable life on downtime and spent his busy work days learning the family craft. The most trouble that reached a tavern keeper like him was rebels that creeped around the plazas trying to start fights.
As Roy matured he developed his character some. He stopped doing as much with his party life and did take things seriously. No more flings and getting piss drunk. Not to say he stopped enjoying time with friends, he just did so in a more moderated way. He also picked up poetry, finding some inspiration from a stumbling drunk to write his first poem. From there, Roy just kept at it. He stopped fighitng as much as well. No need for street brawls when you own your own pub and bakery. Really the most he did was take occisonal leaves to travel. Roy was not one of the Marillo combatants. This allowed him to have a bit more freedom outside of the city. As stated, Roy was rather careful when traveling during the civil wars. He wanted no part of other peoples problems. He still doesn't. And when the dusk gate opened, you can forget it. Roy dared not to go far into the mainland with a sudden burst of Xitians and Lucins running about. Those races only meant trouble to him. They always have. As he got older though, many questioned his lack of spouse. Roy travled a bit too often to find a real woman to settle with and it seems he was never the type to be tied down. The problem is that Roy gets bored too easily. He wants to explore and venture. Getting married and having kids prevents that. And honestly, Roy saw no problem with such as he had four brothers to carry on the family name. With travel restricted in the mainlands, he decided to go elsewhere. Roy had heard many times of the Forbidden Lands. Many enemies had come from there so why not check it out? Maybe there's something in the air that causes people to be asshats. Roy took another leave, perhaps this time much more extended, to go. He'd be missed among family and friends but Roy wanted to just see more things. It also helped that those lands would most likely NOT have bombs blowing out his favorite locations. Roy got on a boat and went to these lands. When asked what location, he picked Nightveil. Why? It sounded spooky. People said it was haunted. That means he has to challenge ghosts and make fun of their poor fashion sense. And off on the boat he was.

Skills:
- Brewing (Advanced): Roy has spent many years crafting and brewing. His father and grandfather both taught Roy and experienced him in the trade. He spent many years as an assistant to his fathers from around the age of 9. His assistant jobs included but were not limited to the tasks of getting the water and copper pot ready and taste testing. At the age of 16, after four years an assistant, Roy took on brewing his on alcohol for the family alongside his father as a proper brewer. The professionalism and experience from Roy’s fathers made him as skilled with alcohol as he is today. Not to mention that brewing for the Martillo family demands quality. He can brew up just about anything you ask him and is particularly experienced with wine. (21 years’ experience total. 7 Apprentice, 14 On his own accord)
- Baking (Competent): The dude can bake. He’s practiced this in quite a bit of time since he spends much of his days in the kitchen. Alcohol takes a long time to make so what else is there to do? Bake cakes, pastries, whatever. He’s no professional but Roy can make some delicious sweets. (Has technically baked as long as he has been brewing, just practices less and doesn’t make a career out of it)
- Dance (Apprentice): Roy can swing dance pretty well. He’s not experienced in other forms of dance but he can groove when he has a partner. Roy has been dancing for as long as he has been interested in pretty girls. (Been dancing since he could walk really.
- Knife Fighting (Novice): Roy knows some very basic knife fighting. He can use it as a basic defense but don’t count on him being able to wage off a whole fight. Being able to use a knife is a common practice in the Martillo family. (Has learned a thing or two over time)
Knowledge:
- Common language (Competent) Roy can speak his own language well enough for his usual fast wit and jokes. He also writes poetry in secret.
